French ice skater suffers wardrobe malfunction

Pyeongchang, South Korea - French figure skater Gabriella Papadakis suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on Monday, revealing a little more than just her Olympic gold medal ambitions in the ice dance competition.

A heavy title favourite along with partner Guillaume Cizeron, Papadakis's skimpy dress slipped during a raunchy short routine in Pyeongchang to leave little to the imagination of millions of television viewers around the world.
The 22-year-old Papadakis left the ice in tears.

"I was like, 'Oh no!' If that comes undone, the whole thing could just pop off. I was terrified the entire programme.
"I didn't stop. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn't stop because you get a deduction if you stop in the middle of a programme."

Her red top looked to have busted a button at the top, slipping off her shoulders and threatening to expose far more than she would have liked in front of a world wide audience. However four years of training, dedication and force of will saw the pair barely register the mishap. They kept skating and dancing and flying and at one point her partner on the ice, Alexander Gamelin had to pull the top back on her shoulders.

So I had that panic,” she said. “That wouldn’t be the most ideal Olympic experience, obviously. The whole time in the back of my head I was just thinking: ‘Keep your back straight because it might come down.”

Both incidents still pale compared to Russian skater Ekaterina Rubleva's full-frontal boob flash at the 2009 European championships when her pink dress slipped down almost to her stomach.

Guillaume Cizeron battled through an unwelcome twist during their short program. Seems he managed to unclip the back of Gabriella Papadakis' halter top rather early in the performance, leaving her to struggle — and fail — against gravity while untold millions watched around the world.
Her left breast was exposed on live TV. NBC quickly switched to a wide shot and has edited the incident out for linear and online rebroadcast.
A mortified Papadakis told reporters after her skate: “I felt it right away and I prayed. That’s about what I could do.” She was able to refasten the offending clip after their routine, but it obviously was a distraction. Still, the pair ended up in second place with the free dance scheduled for today.

Gabriella Papadakis lived her "worst nightmare" as she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at the Winter Olympics, exposing a nipple to millions of people. Showing great character, though, she and her ice dancing partner Guillaume Cizeron went on to win a silver medal in PyeongChang. But she's not the first to suffer the embarrassment of a costume failing.

Her red top looked to have busted a button at the top, slipping off her shoulders and threatening to expose far more than she would have liked in front of a world wide audience. However four years of training, dedication and force of will saw the pair barely register the mishap. They kept skating and dancing and flying and at one point her partner on the ice, Alexander Gamelin had to pull the top back on her shoulders.
